Natural Latex vs. Talalay Latex We have found that many people prefer "Natural Latex" over "Talalay Latex", which has a percentage of synthetic materials. The synthetic additives in Talalay Latex give the final product a more consistent appearance, which some manufacturers prefer so that they can control the look and feel. The downside with Talalay is that you lose the opportunity to have a completely natural and hypoallergenic product. Please note, that as a result, our natural latex foam pads have slight imperfections (cracks and ripples). This is not a defect and has no effect on the mattress pads fit and comfort. In order to have at a unified measurement, Indentation Force Deflection was created to compare ‘softness’ or ‘hardness’ of foam used in the upholstery industry, it is a measurement of the pounds of force needed to indent a 4" thick sample of foam 25 percent of its thickness. This is the most accurate measurement to look at for comparing firmness; yet many sellers shy away from printing this information, preferring to just give the "pound" rating of the foam, which is not the whole story.
